The NATO Advanced Research Workshop
on Confinement, Topology and other Non-Perturbative Aspects of QCD
will take place in the Congress Center Academia in Stará Lesná
in the High Tatra Mountains, Slovakia, from January 21 to 27, 2002.
|
-
The workshop will focus on non-perturbative aspects of quantum
chromodynamics, with particular emphasis on the problem of quark
confinement, the QCD vacuum, and the role played by various kinds of
topological excitations.

Participation in the Workshop is by invitation.
|
-
Participants are expected to arrive to the location of the Workshop
on Monday, January 21. The scientific
program will begin on Tuesday, January 22,
and will conclude on Saturday, January 26, in the afternoon. Sunday, January
27, will be the day of departure.
|
-
There will be a bus taking participants from Bratislava,
the capital of Slovakia, to Stará Lesná on Monday and back
on Sunday. The best way to reach Bratislava is probably via Vienna, which
is located only about 60 km from Bratislava. There is a frequent bus and train
connection between Vienna and Bratislava; there are also buses connecting
the airport of Vienna with Bratislava. Detailed travel instructions together
with excerpts of timetables will be contained in the Second Announcement.

Staying expenses
of all key speakers will be covered by the organizers from the NATO grant.
Also, we will be able to cover staying expenses of all other participants
from NATO countries, NATO Partner countries eligible for support, and
Mediterranean Dialogue countries (see lists below). Unfortunately,
we cannot cover staying expenses of participants from NATO Partner countries
not eligible for support.
|
|
|
NATO countries:
Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany,
Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland,
Portugal, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA.
|
|
|
Partner countries eligible for support:
Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan,
Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrghyz Republic,
Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovak Republic,
Slovenia, Tajikistan, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkmenistan,
Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
|
|
|
Partner countries
not eligible for support:
Austria, Finland, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland.
|
|
|
Mediterranean Dialogue countries:
Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia.
|
-
In general, we will not be able to pay for travel to and
from Bratislava. Some limited travel support will be made available to
participants who are unable to obtain sufficient support elsewhere, but
these funds will be reserved for participants who are either from NATO
Partner countries eligible for support, or from Mediterranean Dialogue
countries. Requests for travel support should be made as soon
as possible, by contacting one of the co-directors.
|
-
Neither NATO nor the organizers of the Workshop take out any health
or accident insurance for participants in the meeting; such insurance
is an individual responsibility. The same applies to the travel insurance.
